BUENA VISTA, Va. — The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2026 softball all-conference awards, with four Southern Virginia University players earning recognition.
Berkeley Whitten led the way with an At-Large First Team All-Conference selection. She paced the conference with 13 home runs, setting a new single-season program record for the Knights. Whitten also led the conference in slugging percentage (.818) and sacrifice flies (4), while her 36 RBIs rank second in program history.
Sophia Badell earned At-Large Second Team All-Conference honors after a strong offensive season. She hit eight home runs, the fourth-most in the conference, and joined Whitten and Emmaline DeGroot in combining for five home runs in a 17-6 win over Salem College—setting a new program record for home runs in a single game. Badell finished in the top 10 in the conference in batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS, posting a .407/.439/.692 slash line with 27 RBIs, the second-most on the team.
Freshman Eliza Patterson was named Second Team All-Conference in the outfield. The Naperville, Illinois native led the team with 40 hits and 25 runs scored while recording a .357/.416/.375 slash line. She also led the Knights with seven stolen bases (7-for-7) and four hit-by-pitches, while tallying the most at-bats on the team.
Abigail Minx represented Southern Virginia on the USA South All-Sportsmanship Team, recognized for her leadership, energy, and sportsmanship throughout the season.
Southern Virginia will now turn its attention to the USA South Conference Tournament, where the Knights will face Greensboro on Thursday, April 30, at 12:00 p.m. at Pfeiffer University.
