Palm Desert, Calif. – Southern Virginia University women's golfer Sydney Richards concluded day one of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf National Championship tied for fifth place after shooting a 71 (-1) through the opening 18 holes.
Richards found success on the par fours throughout the round, tying for the lowest scoring average in the field at 3.8 (-2). She also recorded three birdies during her strong opening performance.
Richards will continue competition over the remaining 54 holes of the championship as she looks to stay among the tournament leaders.
