BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Southern Virginia University soccer team traveled to Bridgewater for their first road match of the season. Unfortunately for the Knights, it would result in a tough outing as the Eagles took care of business in a 7-0 victory.
Bridgewater had Southern Virginia on its heels early and often, earning five corner kicks within the opening ten minutes. The pursuit eventually paid off as the Eagles potted three goals within a few minutes to take a commanding lead.
Despite the deficit, the Knights managed to find their footing and play better to end the half to remain within striking distance.
In the second half, Isaac Northcutt made five saves in goal for the Knights, but the Eagles lead would still grow by the end of regulation to hand Southern Virginia its third loss of the season.
London Timothy and Reymond Casado each recorded a shot on goal, and Isaac Northcutt played all 90 minutes in the cage for the Knights.
Looking Ahead
The team will remain on the road for their next contest. They'll travel to North Carolina to play Guilford College, a team they defeated 1-0 last season courtesy of an 87th minute go-ahead-goal from Brock Hester. Kickoff is slated for this Saturday, September 12th at 1:00 PM.
