Cary, N.C. – The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team continued its conference winning streak Saturday morning, earning its third consecutive victory with a dominant 5-0 win over William Peace University.
The Knights controlled the match from the opening whistle, finishing with a 50-0 advantage in shots. The 50 shots are the third-most in program history, and eleven more than when the Knights last faced the Pacers in 2025.
Southern Virginia got on the board early as Halle Willardson scored her third goal in three consecutive games. Lottie Smith found Willardson in the third minute, and she finished the opportunity to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
The Knights continued to apply pressure throughout the first half, recording 23 shots and seven corner kicks, but William Peace goalkeeper kept Southern Virginia off the scoreboard for the remainder of the half as the Knights carried a 1-0 lead into the break.
Southern Virginia wasted little time adding to its advantage after halftime. In the 46th minute, Ashley Hamblin and Rachel Winterton connected to help the Knights extend their lead.
McKenna Currey added her third goal of the season in the 56th minute, with Hamblin providing the assist. Winterton then converted a penalty kick later in the 56th minute to give Southern Virginia a commanding 4-0 advantage.
Lottie Smith capped the scoring in the 87th minute, finding the back of the net off an assist from Savannah James to seal the 5-0 victory.
The Knights return home for a non-conference matchup against Bob Jones University on Monday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. at Knight Stadium.
