FERRUM, Va. Freshman Aubrey Muaina recorded 19 kills and 14 digs, but the Knights were unable to beat Ferrum, losing 2-3. The Knights won the first game 25-19, and looked to erase the bad memory of the past weekend's tournament.

Ferrum bounced back in the second game, 25-17, to tie up the match. The Panthers took the advantage in the third, when they won 25-18.

Facing elimination, SVU regrouped and evened things at 2-a-piece when they won the fourth game 25-13. Momentum was clearly on the Knights' side as they headed to the fifth and deciding game.

"I was very happy with our resiliency," said Head Coach Brian Pendleton. "When you lose matches, a team can struggle. We played fantastic teams this past weekend. It is very comforting to see the girls rebound and fight so hard."

The Panthers ruined the comeback when they jumped on top early, and kept the Knights at arms length recording the fifth game win 15-13, and securing the 3-2 overall game victory.

"It's disheartening to be in a position to win, after a great comeback, and then see it escape your grasp," said Pendleton. "I'm happy the girls fought hard tonight. We could have thrown in the towel after the third game, but they fought, and we got good results."

The Knights will be back in action again when they host West Virginia Tech Sept. 18, with a 7 p.m. start time.
