FERRUM, Va. Six runs in the first four innings proved too big a
deficit to come back from as the Southern Virginia Baseball team
fell to Ferrum 9-2. SVU fell behind early as the Panthers put two
men on base and brought them home for the early 2-0 lead.
SVU was unable to find an answer for the Ferrum offense, as the
hosts put up 10-hits in the first four innings alone. The Knights
meanwhile could only muster 8-hits all game. The Knights were able
to register their two runs in the top of the ninth Josh
Yarn and Ed Greenhalgh were able to get on base, and
were brought home later on.
Derek Snider took the loss as he went six innings and gave up
11-hits and 6-earned runs. Snider struck out 3-batters and walked
two. Darrell Brown and Nick
Denny came on in relief, but could not stop the Panther offense
to give the Knights the chances to get back in the game.
The two runs scored by the Knights represent the second lowest
amount they have scored in a game all season. SVU is now 13-8 on
the season. The Knights return to action March 27 when they travel
to take on Averett in a double header. The Knights lost to the
Cougars earlier in the season in an 11-inning thriller. The first
game of the double header is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
