LEXINGTON, Va. The Southern Virginia Baseball team could not
quiet the bats of hosts Washington & Lee, and fell big to the
Generals 17-3. W&L jumped early as they put up all the runs
they would need in the first and second inning.
Three runs in each inning put the Knights into a hole that
proved to big for them to climb out of. Jake
Johnson could not find an answer for the Generals' bats and
took the loss with only two innings of work to his name.
SVU was not able to get a run home until the top of the sixth
inning when a W&L error allowed for C.J.
Andrus to score. The Knights put up two more runs in the top of
the eighth, but W&L had by then put the game beyond all doubt.
The visitors could only muster 6-hits all game, and the Knight
pitching staff could not find an answer for the hosts, as the
Generals got to first fifteen times off of hits.
Trager Hintze was a bright spot for the Knights as he
went 2-for-2 on the afternoon. With the loss, the Knights fall to
14-10 on the season. The team will need to regroup quickly as they
will travel for a double-header against Bluefield March 30. The
first game in the two-game series is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
