BRIDGEWATER, Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team was unable to find its first victory of the season as it fell to host Bridgewater College by a 21-10 score Wednesday afternoon in Bridgewater, Virginia.

Southern Virginia (0-4) struck first early in the first period when Ryan Larsen found the back of the net just six seconds into the game. The 1-0 lead did not hold too long as Bridgewater scored twice over the next three minutes of play.

Sophomore Mike Bangerter evened the score at 2-2 off a Russell Anderson assist before Sean Petersen scored to tie it at 3-3 after another Bridgewater score.

The Eagles then rallied off six straight goals over a 14-minute span over the first and second periods. Larsen scored the lone two goals for the Knights in the second frame as Bridgewater (2-1) held a 12-5 advantage at the half.

The second half looked similar as the Eagles used short 3-0 runs to build its lead to as much as 12 as the Knight defense seemed unable to contain the Bridgewater attack. Freshman attack Anthony Good had a strong half as he scored four of Southern Virginia's five second-half goals.

Good led all Southern Virginia players with four goals while Larsen finished with three goals on six shots, including three ground balls.

Bangerter, Petersen and sophomore Casey Rich all scored goals for the Knight offense.

Blake Mann led Bridgewater and all players on the day with a blistering 10 goals on 12 shots.

Goalkeeper Derek Lamb took the loss in the decision while making 10 saves in all 60 minutes of action.

Men's lacrosse is off for two days before it hosts ODAC member Randolph College on Saturday. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. with the site to be determined soon.
