ST. MARY'S CITY, Md.—After a strong first half showing, the Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team was unable to keep pace with CAC foe St. Mary's College after the intermission, falling to the Seahawks by a 26-8 score Saturday afternoon at Seahawk Stadium in St. Mary's City, Maryland.

Southern Virginia (1-8, 0-2 CAC) went toe-toe with St. Mary's through the first two quarters of play, getting goals from five different Knights in the first half.

Freshman attack Anthony Good, sophomore Mike Bangerter and sophomore Casey Rich scored one goal each for Southern Virginia—all unassisted—in the first quarter as the Knights fell behind 7-3.

Midfielder Ryan Larsen started things off for the Knights in the second quarter, finding the back of the net just two minutes into the period. The Mesa, Arizona, native scored again in the second, while Good and Sean Petersen also recorded goals as Southern Virginia entered the half with just a three point deficit—trailing 10-7.

The St. Mary's (1-4, 1-1 CAC) offense heated up in the second half as it outscored the Knights 16-1 during the last 30 minutes of play. Rich scored the lone goal for Southern Virginia in the second half, scoring in the third quarter off a Good assist.

Larsen and Rich led the Knights with two goals apiece, while goalie Derek Lamb took the loss in the decision. Lamb made 16 saves in all 60 minutes of action.

Tim Perugini led St. Mary's with five goals on the afternoon on six shots.

Men's lacrosse has a week off before hosting No. 15 Salisbury University next Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at The Fields in Buena Vista, Virginia.
