Arlington, Va.—The Southern Virginia men's lacrosse team is still in search for their first ever win against a CAC opponent after coming up short on the road today and falling 22-10 at Marymount University.
The Saints (4-7, 1-3 CAC) won the initial faceoff, and scored almost immediately to take a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later the Knights' (1-10, 0-4) midfielder McKenzie Turnbull scored from a Casey Rich assist to tie the game up at one, but the Saints would pull away little by little.
With five minutes left in the first half freshman midfielder Russell Anderson scored the Knight's second goal of the night, but Marymount would score the next five goals and pull away.
Three minutes before the intermission Rich scored an unassisted goal to make the halftime score 9-3, a six point lead that would double in the second half.
An exciting third quarter saw back and forth action between both teams and 11 total goals in the 15 minute period, but things would quite down in the fourth quarter for the Knights, who would only get two scores.
Rich led the Knights with four goals in the match, Turnbull, Anderson, and Sean Peterson each added a pair.
Derek Lamb recorded 10 saves in goal in the loss.
The Saints' Nico Burns led all scorers with seven goals on the night.
This loss marks the third in a row for the Knights, who will head to Christopher Newport on Saturday still in search for a conference victory.
