Buena Vista, Va.—A few tough innings led to a pair of losses for the Southern Virginia softball team as they fall to Mary Washington today at home 16-0 and 16-1.

The Eagles (14-10, 2-4 CAC) took game one scoring six in the first and five in the second and third innings. The Knights' (0-15, 0-6 CAC) only hit would come on a Katierose Helems single in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Senior Jamie Pinkston pitched both games for the Knights, striking out three in game one and giving up seven earned runs.

In game two the Knights found some success with the bats, scoring for the first time in the past five games in the bottom of the fourth inning. Pinkston reached on a fielder's choice and with two outs scored on a Makayla Brown double to right center.

The Eagles would score nine runs in the top of the fifth and hold on to win 16-1.

MaKenzie Cox and Lainie Thompson both had singles in game two.

Pinkston allowed 13 hits in game two, and 10 earned runs.

Mary Washington's Brittnee Haynes hit a two-run homerun in game one.

The Knights head to York College of Pennsylvania for a leagu double header on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
