By Nick Porter

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—It was a tough windy day for the Knights men's lacrosse team as they fell on the road to Christopher Newport, who posted a single-game record for goals scored, as the Captains beat the Knights 29-5.

Southern Virginia (1-11, 0-5 CAC) was able to score three goals in the first quarter from Russell Anderson, Anthony Good, and Casey Rich, but a scoreless second quarter allowed the Captains (8-3, 3-1 CAC) a 15-3 halftime lead.

The Knights would only snag two more goals in the second half, one in each quarter, while Christopher Newport would score 14. Anderson, a freshman midfielder, would score his second goal of the day in the third quarter from a McKenzie Turnbull assist. Freshman attack Sean Peterson scored the Knights fifth and final goal early in the fourth quarter from a Rich assist.

The Captains' Alex Barber led all scorers with 4 goals.

Men's lacrosse returns home to face no. 19 ranked Frostburg State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at The Fields in Buena Vista, Virginia.
