BUENA VISTA, Va.—Despite Southern Virginia's late fourth quarter run, the men's lacrosse team feel short 14-12 to Capital Athletic Conference opponent Marymount University in the home opener at The Fields.

Casey Rich put the Knights (0-2, 0-1 CAC) on the scoreboard first to take the early lead but Southern Virginia went into halftime down 5-4.

Going into the fourth quarter the Knights were down 8-6 when Marymount (1-1, 1-0 CAC) increased their lead to 13-8 with just over three minutes to go. Logan Lund's impressive face-offs led to four consecutive Southern Virginia goals to bring the Knights within one goal of tying the game.  The Knights were unable to finish in the final minute and with two seconds left on the clock Marymount scored their final goal to secure their 14-12 win.

Freshman Payton Kimber led Southern Virginia with four goals including three in the fourth quarter. Spencer Tunick, Casey Rich, and Anthony good each added two goals apiece. Zach Danneman and Derek Marks each scored one goal.

Goalkeeper, Ian Arave recorded six saves for the Knights.

Southern Virginia won an impressive 22 of 29 face-off's and outshot the Saints 40-30. 

The Knights host Bridgewater College for a non-conference game on Saturday, February 27 at 1 p.m. at the Fields.
