MIDDLETOWN, Pa.—The Southern Virginia baseball split a double header with Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, falling short 4-3 in game and earning a 3-0 victory in game two.
Game One
The Knights (6-13, 2-4 CAC) started out strong by scoring two runs in the first inning from a Marcus Begg homerun, his third of the season.
The Lions (9-13, 2-4 CAC) scored in the bottom of the first and scored two more runs in the second inning to take the lead. Southern Virginia tied the game up when Begg scored Jordan Nase on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth. Penn State scored one run in the bottom of the eighth to take the win in game one.
Colin Bigelow earned five strike outs on the mound for the Knights.
Game Two
The Knights earned the shutout in game two, with Tayler Peterson earning his first win on the year in seven innings pitched and six strike outs.
Three singles scored runs in three different innings for Southern Virginia.
In the second Ryan Saunders brought in Zach McNally for the first score of the game. A Cody Davis single in the fourth brought Ryan Morin in for the run before McNally would single and bring in Begg during the fifth inning.
Justin King earned the save for the Knights.
Southern Virginia hosts Hood College on Monday, March 21 at 3 p.m. The game will be held at Rockbridge County High School.
