LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Southern Virginia women's tennis team lost 8-1 to Lynchburg College in their first match of spring.
Junior Kari Stollenwerk won her singles match 7-5 and 6-2 for the lone point for the Knights (0-2). Audrey McBride was defeated 6-2, 6-1. Katie Durrant and Devyn Matley lost by a 6-2, 6-1 score. Ashley Adamson fell 6-0, 6-2 and Alexis Romero was defeated 6-1, 6-4.
The Hornets (3-2) swept all three doubles matches. Stollenwerk and Durrant fought hard in their doubles falling short 9-7. McBride and Matley lost 8-5 and Adamson and Romero lost 8-0.
Southern Virginia plays Salisbury University for their first conference match on Friday, February 4. The match will be played in Fredericksburg, Virginia at 3:30 p.m.
