BUENA VISTA, Va. – In their final two games of the season, the Southern Virginia University softball team swept Christendom College is a double header on Wednesday by scores of 9-0 in game one, and 11-6 in game two.

The Knights (11-27) played as a team all day, with both hitters and pitchers greatly contributing to the wins over the Crusaders (5-7).

In a game that only took six innings to come out on top, neither team scored for the first three frames. Things started rolling in the fourth inning however, as Rachael Moore doubled to bring in a run, after which Aubrey Jorgensen singled to drive in another. The Knights capitalized on errors by Christendom in the later innings with clutch hitting, scoring three in the fifth and four in the sixth.

Crusader hitters had a hard time figuring out freshman pitcher Megan Harmon, who gave up a mere two hits and struck out ten. She also had two hits at the plate.

Also with solid performances for the Knights were Tara Hilton with a hit and three RBI's, Aubrey Jorgensen with three hits is as many at bats, and Losehina Aetonu, the lone senior on the team, who contributed a pair of hits.

After giving up five unanswered runs to start game two, the Knights got hot in the third, fourth and fifth frames to come away with the win.

Both Moore and catcher Heather Terranova had a hit with two RBI's, while Hilton knocked a pair of hits and drove in a run, bringing her team-leading RBI total to 21. Sophomore Megan Stapley pitched a complete game for Southern Virginia, giving up four runs and striking out nine. 

The Knights finish their season with 11 wins, the most the program has earned since 2012.
