Women's Soccer Downed by Penn St.-Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team dropped their Capital Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon to Penn St.-Harrisburg, losing 3-0. 

The Lions (8-3, 1-1 CAC) took the lead early with a goal in the 18th minute, after which the rest of the first half was scoreless, despite opportunities for both the Lions and the Knights (3-6-1, 0-2 CAC). After the break, the Lions took control of the game with goals in the 51st and 73rd minutes and limiting the Knights' chances at goal.

Leading Southern Virginia on the attack was forward Taylor Mercer with two shots, with senior Kora Jewell, freshmen Alli Rigby and Kylie Auger taking a shot apiece. Southern Virginia was unable to put any of their shots on frame, however, while Penn St.-Harrisburg put 10 of their 13 shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Merideth Ouellette took the loss for the match, but saved seven of the Lions' ten shots on goal.

The Knights will return home on Wednesday to take on No. 9 Christopher Newport at Knights Stadium. The match is at 5:00 p.m. and will be broadcasted live.
