GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Southern Virginia University softball team dropped a pair of one-run games on Saturday afternoon at Greensboro College, falling 3-2 in game one and 4-3 in game two.

After the Pride (5-3) got on the board with a run in the first inning, but Heather Terranova answered back with an RBI single in the second to tie the game at 1-1. After Greensboro put another run across in the sixth, Terranova responded yet again in the top of the seventh with another RBI single.  In the bottom of the frame, Greensboro plated the walk-off run after a free pass with the bases loaded.

Aside from the pair of hits from Terranova and another two from shortstop Bethanie Hudson, the Knights struggled to put the bat on the ball, finishing with only five hits and striking out 13 times. Megan Harmon had the final base hit for Southern Virginia.

Harmon was phenomenal in the circle, pitching a complete game and giving up seven hits and only two earned runs.

Greensboro again took game two in walk-off fashion, but not after the Knights overcame a 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the sixth. Terranova had another excellent game at the plate, going 3-4 with an RBI, while Harmon picked up two hits of her own. Senior Mollie Gabbert and junior Jordan Stites also drove in a run each.

Sophomore Melanie Peyton went the distance for Southern Virginia, giving up four runs over six and two-thirds solid innings.

The Knights will look to get in the win column on Saturday as Lancaster Bible comes to town. Game one of the doubleheader will start at 1:00 p.m. at The Fields.
