EMORY, Va. — The Southern Virginia men's rugby team continued their winning streak and staying undefeated after securing a win against Cardinals Collegiate Rugby Conference (CCRC) Emory and Henry Saturday afternoon by the score of 77-5.
The Knights (6-0) started quickly in the first half of play, collecting seven tries with Simi Hingano leading the way for Southern Virginia with two tries. Alex Payne, Jewka Patetefa, Cedric Vakalahi, O'Shea Settle, and Christian Kapisi each recorded a try while Settle added two successful conversions in the half for a 42-0 lead.
The Knights did not let up in the second half, as Colin Turner started the scoring off only four minutes into the second half. Marshall Ferris followed shortly scoring his first try of the game and then Settle added a pair of tries. Ferris converted four conversions in the second half.
Payne posted his second successful try of the game before Elijah Mendoza capped off the scoring with the final try of the match and securing the 77-5 victory.
Emory and Henry's lone score of the game came late in the second half.
Southern Virginia travels to Raleigh, North Carolina, to take on Duke University on November 2.
