HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. — The Southern Virginia University University swim teams competed in a pair of duals against Hampden-Sydney, Bridgewater, and Sweet Briar. The men's team split the day with a 121-92 victory over Bridgewater and a 149-90 loss to the host Hampden-Sydney while the women fell in both duals falling 133-94 to Sweet Briar and 154-63 to Bridgewater.
For the men's team, freshman James Baldwin led the Knights after posting two wins in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle with times of 24.84 and 56.06, respectively. Connor Moore added one more individual victory for the Knights as he won the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:39.50 while adding a second place in the 200-meter butterfly.
Gordon McCreadie finished second in the 50-meter freestyle recording a time of 26.14. The Knights finished second in both the 400-meter medley relay that included McCreadie, Collin Moore, Connor Moore, and Tate May and also placed second in the 200-meter freestyle relay that consisted of McCreadie, Connor Moore, May and Baldwin in a time of 1:45.47.
On the women's side, Southern Virginia was led by Emmy Waite and Emma Merrill, after Waite finished second in the 50-meter freestyle with the time of 30.99, and Merrill placed second in the 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:36.51.
The Knights secured a second-place performance in the 400-meter medley relay with the team of Macy Waite, Ellie Burgy, Brooklyn Sandholzer, and Emilee Tippets. Bailee Sutherland, Ellie Burgy, Macy Waite, and Emilee Tippets each contributed an individual third-place finish for Southern Virginia.
The Knights return to host their home-opener against Captial Athletic Conference foe Salisbury Saturday, Nov. 2, starting at 2 p.m.
