BRIDGEWATER, Va. — The Southern Virginia University swim teams finished a pair of matchups against Bridgewater and Ferrum. The men's team swept the competition as they defeated Bridgwater 137-77 and Ferrum 160-50 while the women's team split their day with a 123-79 win over Ferrum and a 165-61 loss to Bridgewater.
"This was a fun meet for us as a team," said head coach Jennifer Moore. "From the first relay to the last relay of the day. I'm proud of the way they raced and performed."
On the men's team, winners had six separate Knights pick up wins on the day. James Baldwin and Gordon McCreadie led the team after the duo combined for a total of 11 wins. Baldwin won the 100 backstroke, 200 backstrokes, and 100 butterfly while McCreadie collected wins in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle against both the Eagles and the Panthers.
Tate May also produced for the Knights as he earned wins in the 800 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and the 200 IM. Connor Moore added victories in the 100 breaststroke while Collin Moore won the 200 butterfly overt the Panthers, and Will Dryden won the 200 Breaststroke against the Eagles.
The Knights swept the relays, defeating Bridgewater and Ferrum in the 200 MR and the 200 relay.
Emmy and Macy Waite anchored Southern Virginia's women's team as they claimed victories in multiple events. Emmy picked up wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles and the 100 butterfly while Macy collected wins in the 200 and 400 freestyles and the 200 backstroke against the Panthers.
Taylor Mercer earned her first win of the season, winning the 100 breaststroke against Ferrum. Emilee Tippets rounded out the Knights big day with an individual win in the 200 breaststroke.
The Knights defeated Ferrum in the 200 MR with the team made up of Emmy and Macy Waite, Mercer, and Brooklyn Sandholzer.
Southern Virginia competes next after Thanksgiving on Dec. 7 at Hollins. The meet is set for a noon start.
