GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Southern Virginia University baseball team lit up the scoreboard on Saturday afternoon, posting a pair of wins against Guilford College. The Knights took the first game 11-6 and the second 14-8.

Game one was a low-scoring affair until the sixth inning when both teams started to find their groove at the plate. The Knights (4-2) pulled ahead with a 3-1 lead on a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch, to which the Quakers (5-6) responded with a five-run bottom half of the frame to take a 6-3 lead.

The Knights' hitters kept the pressure on the in the seventh and eighth innings by scoring three and five runs, respectively, to take the 11-5 win.

Nine Southern Virginia batters recorded a hit in the game, led by Jordan Nase's three. Cole Critchfield drove in three runs while Nase, Bridger Taylor and Canon Anderson each drove in two.

Jonny Soto started on the mound and gave up only one run over three innings and striking out two. Matt Roll picked up the win in relief, pitching three solid frames.

Game two was a different story with both teams getting on the board early, and the Quakers gaining an 8-4 advantage after six innings. After scoreless fifth and sixth innings, the Knights' lineup exploded to score 10 runs in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Southern Virginia used six pitchers to get through the game, with Tanner Black picking up the win in his one and two-thirds innings of work.
