Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, Va.— The Southern Virginia softball team was dealt a pair of losses to Greensboro College Saturday, losing 6-2 in game one and 12-2 in game two.
The Knights (3-9) recorded the games first runs in the bottom of the first inning when Mykayla Johnson hit a double scoring Bethanie Hudson and Matea Manuleleu to take the lead 2-0.
The rest of game one went to the Pride, scoring six unanswered runs to put away the Knights 6-2.
The Knights tallied five from Johnson, Manuleleua, Krystal Kemp, Jordan Stites, and Tara Caputo. Kemp was in the circle for the Knights and recorded three strikeouts.
In the second game of the doubleheader, some Knight mishaps kept the Pride alive late in innings allowing them to build a 10-0 lead after three innings.
Southern Virginia scored their first and only runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a Kemp two-run homer with the Knights still trailing 10-2.
The Pride tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth on an error to defeat the Knights 12-2.
The Knights were limited offensively with a strong performance from Cheyanne Cox for the Pride on the mound.
Melanie Peyton started for the Knights going 2.1 innings, giving up five earned runs.
The Knights will now hit the road for a doubleheader with Guilford College Wednesday, Mar. 13 at 2 p.m.
