Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University softball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, falling to York College of Pennsylvania in a conference matchup by scores of 1-0 and 8-0.

Game one was a defensive battle throughout, with both teams' pitching staffs performing well. The game was scoreless until the top of the seventh inning when the Spartans (20-12, 5-3 CAC) scored on an error in the field. The Knights (7-25, 0-6 CAC) were unable to score in the bottom of the seventh in the defeat.

The Knights were only able to manage two hits in the game, both off the bat of junior Heather Terranova.

Megan Harmon was in the circle for the Knights, giving up six hits and no earned runs. She struck out four in the complete game.

York got their bats going in game two, scoring eight runs in five innings. The Knights only recorded one hit in the game with senior Tara Hilton hitting a single in the fourth inning.

Harmon was the starting pitcher again but struggled with her command, walking eight batters as she gave up four earned runs in the game.

The Knights will hope to turn things around on Monday as they take on Penn St.-Harrisburg. Game one starts at 3:00 p.m. at Harvey-Dryden Field.
