Box Score 2 FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University softball team defeated the University of Mary Washington in game one 2-1 and then fell 3-0 in the second game in the doubleheader.
In game one, the Knights (9-27, 2-8) trailed the Eagles (18-15, 8-2) 1-0 until the top of the fifth inning when starting pitcher Megan Harmon helped her own cause by hitting a two-run single.
Harmon threw a gem for Southern Virginia throwing seven innings allowing just three hits and one run to go along with six strikeouts.
The Knights tallied seven hits with Harmon recording two hits while Heather Terranova, Melanie Peyton, Bethanie Hudson and Matea Manuleleua each tallied a hit.
In game two, the Knights were shutout by the Eagles holding the Knights to four hits while the Eagles added three runs, to take a 3-0 lead after capitalizing on the Knights five errors on the game.
Krystal Kemp was in the circle for the Knights falling to 3-10 on the season after throwing 6 innings, striking out two and allowing one earned run.
The Knights will now prepare for the regular season finale against Salisbury University Saturday, April 20 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
