Box Score 2 CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Southern Virginia University softball team split their doubleheader on the road against Wilson College Tuesday afternoon, losing the first game 2-1 and winning the second 13-2.
In game one, the Knights (7-23) were limited to just three hits while also holding the Pheonix (14-5) to four hits.
The first run of the game and the Knights only run of the game came in the top of the fourth inning after Tara Caputo hit a triple, Bethanie Hudson singled scoring Caputo for a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Pheonix scored on a single to right field that scored two runs to give them the 2-1 lead. The Knights could not get any runners on base in the final inning to drop game one 2-1.
In the second game, after a 1-1 tie, the Knights bats came to life scoring three runs in the top of the second by an RBI single from Madison Rigby and a two-run RBI double by Heather Terranova.
The third inning ended as the Knights best inning as they scored six runs to take a commanding 10-1 lead into the fourth.
Southern Virginia tallied two more runs scoring a run on an Airin Lara double in the fourth and a two-run single by Caputo up the middle to end the game in five innings 13-2.
Terranova led the Knights recording three hits in three at-bats with a pair of RBI's while Caputo registered a game-high four RBI's. Caitlin Barber, Matea Manuleleua and Rigby each collected two hits each.
Megan Harmon was in the circle for Southern Virginia going two innings allowing a run for her fourth victory of the season.
The Knights play next on Senior Night Friday, April 12 at 5:00 p.m. against Capital Athletic Conference foe Penn State Harrisburg.
