St. Mary's City, Md. — The Southern Virginia University men's and women's swim teams concluded competition at the Chesapeake Bay Aquatic Club in a tri-match against St. Mary's (Md.) and Frostburg State.
The men's team fell 106-86 to St. Mary's (Md.) and 105-91 to Frostburg State. The Knights were led by the duo of James Baldwin and Jonathan Dye with victories in the 100-yard breaststroke and 50-yard freestyle, respectively. Baldwin added a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke while Dye placed second in the 200-yard freestyle.
Gordon McCreadie produced a pair of second-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle while Connor Moore also placed second in his events in both the 200-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle. Travis Lott rounded out the men's team with a top-three finish in the 200-yard IM.
On the women's side, the Knights fell 118-59 to the Seahawks and 134-52 against the Bobcats. Emmy Waite led the team with a pair of third-place finishes in the 50 and 100-yard freestyles. Emma Merrill and Taylor Mercer each produced notable performances in the 100-yard breaststroke while Ellie Burgy added a couple of fourth-place finishes in the 200 and 500-yard freestyles.
Southern Virginia competes next Saturday, Jan. 25, in a tri-meet against Ferrum and Lynchburg starting at 1 p.m.
