BUENA VISTA, Va- The 19th ranked Southern Virginia University Rugby team dropped a conference match to sixth ranked rival Queens University of Charlotte, on Friday night at home, with a score of 29-43.
How it Happened
The Knights struck quickly as
O'Shea Settle scored on a penalty kick in the opening minutes of the match. Southern Virginia continued their hot start after a
Michael Golden try brought the lead to 8-0.
Queens clawed their way back into the game after two successful tries, and a converted penalty kick, putting them up 17-8 at the half.
Nathaniel Roeback scored on an incredible individual effort as he zig-zagged past multiple Royal defenders into the try zone for the Knights. Settle was able to hit the conversion to bring the score to within one, early in the second half.
Queens was able to score two quick conversions of their own to again take the advantage.
Southern Virginia continued to show fight after a
Kenton Parkin try made the contest a one score match.
Once again the Royals were able to get two conversions, pushing their advantage to three scores.
David Tuitavake scored his first try of the night, while Wei Stanton was good on the conversion, the effort however was not enough and Queens was able to come away with a 43-29 victory.

The Southern Virginia University rugby team is back in action after at home on Saturday, October 29th after a week off from competition. The Knights will be taking on the Nittany Lions of Penn State with the game to start at 4 p.m.
