Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University softball team split their matchup against Guilford College Friday afternoon, defeating the Quakers in game one 3-2 and falling in game two 5-3.

Game Notes
- In the second inning of game one, Afton Brown recorded a triple, sending Sydney Matis in for the team's first run, tying the game 1-1
- Krystal Kemp followed Brown up in the third inning with a double to bring Adisen Webster in for the earned run, going ahead 2-1
- After the Quakers tied the game up in the sixth inning, extra innings were needed to decide the victor
- In the eighth inning, Emily Oldham hit a SAC bunt towards first, allowing Chloe Nelson to score the game-winning run
- Southern Virginia struggled getting going in game two, falling behind 5-0 after four innings
- In the fifth inning, Sydney Matis got things going for the Knights, hitting a single, sending Dykell Jones home for the team's first run
- Krystal Kemp closed out the day for Southern Virginia, recording her second home run of the season, bringing Adisen Webster home for two RBIs
The Knights return home to Harvey-Dryden Field on Wednesday, March 16, to take on Ferrum College. Game one is scheduled for 4 pm, and game two is slated for 6 pm.
