DANVILLE, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team debuted in their first USA South Conference matchup against Averett University Wednesday afternoon, dominating the Cougars 20-4.

Game Notes

• After allowing the first goal of the game by Averett to go up 1-0, the Knights answered confidently scoring six unanswered goals led by Shawn Lamb unassisted goals 
• Averett again scored the first goal of the second quarter, but Southern Virginia was not phased, going on a 7-0 scoring run to go into the halftime break with the 13-2 advantage
• Garrison Cook got things going in the second half after clearing the ball up the field to snag his second goal of the year while Brad Gardner scored his goal of the season off of a Ty Veres assist
• Bryce Gardner earned his first goal of the season at the 10:12 mark of the third quarter, followed by another Brad Garnder goal to put the team up 18-3
• Bryce Gardener closed the scoring for the Knights, scoring the team's 20th goal of the game, locking in their first conference victory

The Knights welcome LaGrange to Knight Stadium for the team's second USA South Conference match of the season on Saturday, March 19. Game time is scheduled for noon.
