Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University softball team took on Eastern Mennonite on Harvey-Dryden Field Saturday afternoon, dropping game one 4-3 and game two 8-3.
Game Notes
- Krystal Kemp led the team with three hits to go along with two RBIs
- Chloe Nelson had a solid first game, recording two hits, while Afton Brown, Krailyn Guymon, Sydney Matis, and Samantha Johnson each tallied one
- After trailing 3-0 after two innings, Krystal Kemp stepped up to the plate hitting a double, recording two RBIs, sending Chloe Nelson and Dykell Jones home to make the new score 3-2
- Sydney Matis followed Kemp up with a single, advancing Krailyn Guymon home for the run to tie the game up 3-3
- EMU managed to score in the sixth inning to take the 4-3 game one victory
- In game two, Krystal Kemp continued to dominate, hitting a single, bringing Chloe Nelson in for the score to put the team up 1-0
- Krailyn Guymon singled in the sixth inning, sending Kemp home to make the new score 2-0
- EMU took control in the seventh inning, scoring eight consecutive runs to go up 8-2
- Dykell Jones scored the final run of the day, after tagging the plate after a fly out to the center field to score
Southern Virginia takes on Mary Washington on Tuesday, March 22, for a midweek series. Game one is slated for 3 pm, and game two is scheduled for 5 pm.
