Box Score UNION, NJ. — The Southern Virginia University men's volleyball team took on Kean on the road Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Cougars in three sets.
Game Notes
- Nahuel Recabarren led all players with 15 kills while McKay Walker followed with seven
- Kaipo Tagaloa quarterbacked the offense, dishing out 34 assists
- Tagaloa led the team with six digs while Kyler Evans recorded five
- Walker dominated the net, tallying five blocks in the match
- Down one point midway through the first set, Southern Virginia used a service error to go on a 7-1 run to leap ahead 15-11
- Overtime was needed in the first set with Kean holding the 30-29 advantage
- A kill from Walker and Recabarren gave the Knights the 1-0 lead, taking the first set 32-30
- The Knights made quick work of set two, winning 25-17 with McKay leading the set with four kills
- Southern Virginia saw the win close by, holding the 17-12 lead towards the end of the final set
- The Cougars came back within two points, but the Knights closed the set out, outscoring Kean 6-4, completing the sweep
Southern Virginia returns home to Knight Arena Friday, April 1, taking on UC Santa Cruz. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
