Box Score 2 BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University softball team fell in their doubleheader series Tuesday afternoon to Averett University, falling to the Cougars in game one 14-4 and 5-3 in game two.
Game Notes
- In game one, Afton Brown led the team with two hits while Dykell Jones, Krystal Kemp, and Samantha Johnson recorded one
- The Knights got on the board in the third inning after Chloe Nelson recorded a sac, sending Dykell Jones home for the score
- In the fourth inning, Krailyn Guymon was able to score following an error by the first baseman
- Afton Brown followed Guymon with a run following a sac hit for the Knights
- Samantha Johnson singled to center field, sending Chloe Cochran home for the run to wrap the scoring for Southern Virginia in game one
- In the first inning of game two after going down 2-0, Krystal Kemp recorded her third home run of the season, bringing in Chloe Nelson in for the two-run homer
- After a wild pitch, Samantha Johnson stole home, recording the final point of the game for the Knights
Southern Virginia takes on Meredith on Saturday, April 2, for the two-game series at Meredith. Game one is scheduled for 1 pm, and game two is slated for 3 pm.
