Box Score 2 STAUNTON, VA. — The Southern Virginia University softball team split the team's doubleheader series Friday afternoon against Mary Baldwin University, winning game one 4-3 and falling in game two 8-4.
Series Notes
- On the mound in game one, Krystal Kemp recorded a game-high four strikeouts
- Four different Knights recorded one hit for the squad, with Chloe Nelson and Krystal Kemp earning one RBI
- In the first inning, the Knights went ahead 2-0 early with Chloe Nelson scoring off of an error by the short stop, and Dykell Jones scoring off of an error by the catcher
- In the fifth inning, Adisen Webster singled through the left side, sending Sydney Matis home for the score
- Krystal Kemp sac flied to center field, advancing Dykell Jones home for the final run of game one
- Leading the way in game two, Adisen Webster, and Afton Brown both recorded two hits, with Webster tallying a game-high three RBIs
- In the first inning, Chloe Nelson recorded a double, sending Dykell Jones home for the team's first run
- Adisen Webster followed with a sace fly to right field, advancing Chloe Nelson home
- In the final inning, Adisen Webster singled down the left field line, recording two RBIs, sending Chloe Nelson, and Samantha Johnson home
The Knights return to action on Saturday, April 16, taking on NC Wesleyan in a doubleheader series. Game one is scheduled for 1pm and game two is slated for 3 pm.
