Box Score 2 WINSTON-SALEM, NC. — The Southern Virginia University softball team dropped their doubleheader series against Salem College Wednesday night, falling to the Spirits in game one 6-3 and 9-1 in game two.
Game Notes
- Chloe Nelson and Krystal Kemp led the Knights in game one with two hits while Dykell Jones, Allie Cordero, Sydney Matis, Halle Maddock, and Samantha Jonshon each recorded one
- On the mound, Krystal Kemp recorded three strikeouts
- Kemp gave Southern Virginia the early 1-0 lead after singling down the right-field line, allowing Chloe Nelson to score
- In the fourth inning, Halle Maddock singled to second base, recording the RBI, and sending Emily Oldham home
- Chloe Nelson scored the final run of the first game in the fifth inning, taking advantage of a fielding error by the catcher to score unearned
- In game two, a fielding error by Salem's shortstop allowed Dykell Jones to score the game's lone run
Southern Virginia takes on William Peace at home at Harvey-Dryden field for a doubleheader series on Saturday, April 9. Game one is scheduled for 1 pm, and game two is slated for 3 pm.
