Box Score BUENA VISTA, VA. — The Southern Virginia University men's lacrosse team took on Greensboro in the USA South Conference Semifinals in Knight Stadium Friday afternoon, with the Knights advancing to the program's first conference championship with a dominant 25-6 victory.
Game Notes
- Senior Tennison Schmidt led all players with ten points off of six goals and four assists, breaking the single-season scoring record with 102 current points
- Shawn Lamb followed Schmidt with five points off of three goals and two assists while Gabe King rounded out the scoring with four goals
- In goal, Caleb Brodie shined, recording eight saves that included four saves right on the door step
- Southern Virginia owned the contest from the opening whistle, going up 8-0 after the first quarter, led by six Tennison Schmidt points
- After the first half, the Knights maintained the comfortable 12-2 lead with Gabe King scoring two goals in the second quarter
- Southern Virginia's defense controlled the tempo of the game after halftime, not allowing a goal in the third quarter while the offense added eight more goals heading into the final quarter of play
- The Knights wrapped the game up scoring five more goals in the fourth quarter, locking in the 25-6 victory
Southern Virignia takes on Pfeiffer University in the USA South Conference Championship on Saturday, May 7, in Knight Stadium. Game time is slated for 4 pm.
