BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University Rugby team began their preseason with a dominant win Saturday afternoon against The University of Rio Grande, ending with a final score of 31-7.
Coach Marshall Ferris on the victory
"I was impressed with their tenacity and relentless pressure attacking our line for a good portion of the first half. In saying that, we as the coaching staff are pleased with our defensive effort. Credit to our boys for answering Rio Grande's questions with some impressive showings. Very thankful to the lads from Rio Grande for making the trek out from Ohio for a hard-fought preseason game. Thanks to those who came out to the game. The support was awesome, and the boys definitely felt the energy. The 16th man was loud and proud, and we will need them every step of the journey."
