Salem, VA - The Southern Virginia University men's wrestling team ventured to compete at the 2024 Southeast Futures Championship hosted by Roanoke College.
In the 125-pound category, Joseph Comaduron initiated the competition with a challenging tech-fall loss. Despite a hard-fought battle, he concluded with a 24-18 decision, ending the day with a 0-2 record.
Moving to the 133-pound class, John Carlson faced a tough day, going 0-2. His journey included a second-round tech fall and a subsequent loss by pin in the following match.
At 141 pounds, Porter Kinne wrestled through both matches, narrowly losing in close decisions, with scores of 6-2 and 8-4.
Sawyer Ferry, also competing at 141 pounds, engaged in a challenging struggle, resulting in a 3-12 majority decision loss before facing defeat by pin in the consolation bracket.
In the 149-pound category, Jacob Smith encountered setbacks, losing by fall in his first two matches.
At 165 pounds, Noah James faced adversity, falling in the first round with a score of 3-18 and succumbing to a fall in the second round.
In the 184-pound division, Lincoln Trapp began with a technical fall loss and followed it with a loss by majority decision in the second round.
Looking ahead, the Knights are gearing up for a duel against Newport News Apprentice School before concluding their season with play in the ODAC. Despite the challenges, the team remains focused on finishing the season strong and making a mark in upcoming competitions.
