ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Southern Virginia University men's and women's swim teams continued impressive starts to the season at Warren Wilson's Quad-Meet.

Each team secured dominant wins over Warren Wilson and Greensboro, but suffered their first losses of the season at the hands of Piedmont.

Men's Results 

On the men's side, the Knights first victory came courtesy of Caleb Dixon who cleaned up in the 100y back. He then went two-for-two in the backstroke events after comfortably winning the 200y back not long after.

Holton Bundy put together a similar line with victories in the 100 and 200y breaststroke. Sam Dearing produced an admirable swim with his third-place finish in a thrilling 50y free.

McCormick Johnson was the final Southern Virginia swimmer to collect a top-three finish with his performance in the 200y free.

Dixon and Bundy have now totaled six and five wins respectively, helping the Knights to three of a possible four wins to start the season.  

Women's Results

While the women's team took care of business against Warren Wilson and Greensboro, defeating them both by over 100 points,  their anticipated rematch with Piedmont became the focal point of their day.

The quartet of Olive King, Emily Lesue, Jamie Horne, and Kate Black kicked off the meet with a win in the 200y medley relay, finishing two seconds ahead of Piedmont.

Jamie Horne and Olive King swept the top two spots in the 50 and 100y freestyle, with Horne adding a third victory in the 100y fly. The reigning Independent South Swimmer appears to be in good form with five individual victories already to her name this season.

Kate Black added to the Knights win total by claiming the 200y back. Ultimately, Piedmont snuck by Southern Virginia by just 18 points, handing the Knights their first loss of the season. 

Looking Ahead

It'll be a quick turnaround for the team as they gear up for another quad-meet, this time hosted by St. Mary's College of Maryland. Events are slated for a 1:00 PM start.
