SALEM, Va. - The Southern Virginia University men's cross country team closed its season at the South Regional Championship on Saturday, producing one of their best team performances of the season.
Taylor Weiland finished just outside an All-Region spot, securing 43rd place in his second fastest time of the season. He was seeking to be just the third freshman in program history to accomplish the feat.
Joseph Hughes and Gary Rogers also finished in the top 100 as the two and three runners for the team. They ran 27:03 and 27:44 respectively. Carter Johnson ran a season's best in his final collegiate cross country meet, clocking in at 28:24.
Easton Higley and Truman Meyer also ran well. Meyer, in particular, ran over a minute faster than his previous personal best.
The Knights finished 15th in the competitive South Region which puts a wrap on their fall season.
