Redd-Armstrong Qualifies For NCAA Championship During Historic Day For Southern Virginia Women’s Cross Country

SALEM, Va. - Not far from home, and with ideal mid-morning weather, the Southern Virginia University women's cross country team put together an impressive performance at the South Regional Championships.

The meet took place on Green Hill Park's reconfigured cross country course in Salem, Virginia, a familiar venue for the team in recent memory.

The big news of the day was Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong's fourth-place finish, smashing her previous personal best in a time of 21:47. More importantly, she secured her spot in the NCAA Championship meet next weekend, the first woman in program history to accomplish the feat.

As a team, the Knights tied their best-ever finish at the regional meet by finishing the day in 6th. They also did so without one of their top runners, Emma Hillam, who was forced to sit out due to injury, making the result that much more impressive.

Kaylee Horner and Sasha Braddy posted All-Region finishes, crossing the line only seconds apart in the 20th and 21st.

Horner eclipsed her previous personal best to close out one of the best freshman campaigns in team history. For Braddy, it's her third all-region finish in three tries.

Kenia Reynolds and Emmalee Gabrylczyk posted all-time marks for themselves as well and were key parts of the team result.

Looking Ahead

The 2025 NCAA Division lll Cross Country Championship is this Saturday, November 22nd in Spartanburg, South Carolina. For Redd-Armstrong, it'll be a familiar course at the Roger Milliken Center. She ran it twice during her freshman season in 2021, including for the regional championship.
