Redd-Armstrong Surges Into NCAA Division lll Cross Country Championship

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - For the sixth consecutive fall cross country season, Southern Virginia University is still competing past the regional meet.

While Head Coach Kyle Chandler has become accustomed to taking his athletes to different parts of the country at this stage of this season, this year has a special ring of history to it.

At the 2025 NCAA Division lll South Regional, Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong became the first Knight in women's cross country program history to qualify for an NCAA Championship.

She finished 4th overall in a highly competitive field, clocking in at 21:47, the fastest 6K run in team history. While it's her first time qualifying for the cross country championships, it'll be Redd-Armstrong's second appearance at an NCAA Championship meet.

In the spring of 2021, she ended a phenomenal freshman campaign by qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 3,000m steeplechase. Marred by injury at the end of that season which caused her to miss several weeks of training, this fall serves as redemption on the national stage.

Spartanburg, South Carolina will host the 2025 National Championship as athletes will compete at the Roger Milliken Center Cross Country Course. The top 40 finishers will receive All-American honors. The women's section is slated to start at 11:00 AM this Saturday, November 22nd.

Redd-Armstrong and the Knights competed on the course twice during their 2021 campaign, which was the site of the 2021 South Regional Championship.
