Lynchburg, Va. – The Southern Virginia University beach volleyball team concluded a competitive weekend at the Lynchburg Tournament, facing off against Richard Bland, Liberty University, Stevenson University, and the University of Lynchburg.
The Knights opened the tournament with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Richard Bland College but fell to Liberty in the next matchup, 1-4.
Reflecting on the match against Liberty, Head Coach Jon Baker noted, "We had our chances against Liberty—two matches went to three sets, and our 1s pair won in straight sets."
On the second day of play, Southern Virginia fell to Stevenson, with Claire Grasteit and Kami Milius securing a win in the 1s pair, battling through three sets for an 18-21, 21-19, 15-8 victory.
The Knights closed out the tournament with an impressive 3-2 win over host Lynchburg, marking a significant step forward after falling to the Hornets three times earlier this season.
"It was a good week for us, winning four out of the six duels we played," Baker said of the team's progress.
