Buena Vista, Va. – The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2025 All-Conference honors for women's golf, with Southern Virginia University earning major recognition. Freshman Lexi Leavitt was named the USA South Rookie of the Year, while Sydney Richards earned First Team All-Conference honors following a standout season.
Leavitt, a freshman from St. George, Utah, becomes the first women's golfer in Southern Virginia program history to be named USA South Rookie of the Year. Leavitt posted an 85.0 stroke average across eight events this season. She notched two top-10 finishes and recorded a season-low round of 74.
Her consistent play throughout the season earned her three USA South Rookie Golfer of the Week honors. Leavitt's award is a testament to the growth of the program and the impact of underclassmen stepping up in a big way.
Sophomore Sydney Richards continued her climb as one of the top players in the conference, earning First Team All-Conference after a breakout season. Richards finished the year with a 76.7 stroke average across 16 rounds—the fourth-best average in the conference.
A year after receiving Honorable Mention Conference honors, Richards elevated her game, improving her average from 79.6 last season and asserting herself among the region's top golfers. She set a new program record for lowest 36-hole score, shooting a 142 (-2) at the Greenbrier Women's Intercollegiate. Her season was marked by consistent excellence, finishing in the top 10 in all eight events, with seven top-five finishes and two individual victories.
Southern Virginia's team as a whole showed notable progress, lowering their team scoring average from 331.1 last season to 326.2. The Knights have consistently finished strong this spring, placing in the top three in all four spring tournaments.
The team now turns its focus to the USA South Conference Championship, set for April 28–30 at Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina, with hopes of building on their momentum and playing for the conference title.
