Southern Virginia Women’s Golf Closes Season with Fourth-Place Finish at USA South Championship

Spartanburg, S.C. – The Southern Virginia University women's golf team capped off a strong 2024–25 campaign with a fourth-place finish at the USA South Women's Golf Championship, marking another step forward for the growing program.

Competing at Carolina Country Club, the Knights posted a three-round team score of 995 (+131), finishing behind conference powers Huntingdon (+44), Piedmont (+82), and Methodist (+83).

Sydney Richards | 9th Place (+24, 240)

Richards continued her stellar season with a top-10 finish. After an opening round 80 (+8), she improved on day two with a solid 77 (+5) and closed with an 83 (+11). Her performance capped off a season where she consistently led the Knights and earned First Team All-Conference honors.

Halle Western | 15th Place (+33, 249)

Western showed steady improvement throughout the tournament. After starting with an 86, she followed up with an 83 and finished strong with an 80, climbing the leaderboard to finish tied for 15th and contributing key scores to the team total.

CC Banz | 17th Place (+37, 253)

Banz opened with an impressive 79 (+7) to sit in the top 10 after day one, but rounds of 88 and 86 saw her settle into a 17th-place finish. Still, her strong start provided early momentum for the Knights.

Quinn Shupe 20th (+48) & Lexi Leavitt 21st (+50)

Shupe posted rounds of 81, 96, and 88 to help anchor the team's middle order, while Leavitt added scores of 92, 84, and 90 to round out the scoring. Both contributed to the Knights' ability to hold off the rest of the field and secure fourth place.

The Knights wrap up a promising season with major team scoring improvements and a young roster that gained critical postseason experience. With the foundation laid, the program looks ahead to even greater success in 2025–26.
