Buena Vista, VA - The USA South released its men's lacrosse all-conference teams for the 2025 season. The Knights are once again well-represented, as attacker Tyson Mauri, midfielder Clay Haacke, and short stick defensive midfielder JT Cutrer were all voted to the USA South First Team All-Conference. Peyton Merwin was included on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
JT Cutrer makes history as the first Southern Virginia defender to win USA South Defensive Player of the Year. After garnering first team honors last year, Cutrer has turned in an even better encore performance in his senior season. In addition to 11 goals and over 20 points, he's second in the conference in overall caused turnovers, and in league competition with 18. He was a big spark on a defense that held conference opponents to under 10 goals three times.

Joining Cutrer on the first team is sophomore attacker, Tyson Mauri. Mauri quickly became the main driver of the Knights' attack, finishing the regular season with twice as many points as the team's second highest scorer. He's second in the USA South in points per game, and his 81 points are the most amongst all conference scorers this season. Mauri has already eclipsed his freshman point total by 14 points.

Junior midfielder Clay Haacke is the final Knight to earn a spot on the first team, his second nod in the last two seasons. Haacke leads the team with 36 goals this season and has produced at a career high shooting percentage of .265. Haacke's production has ramped up in the final weeks of the season, scoring 23 goals in his last 7 games. He also has 84 shots on goal which leads the team by a wide margin.

Senior attacker Peyton Merwin was selected to the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. Merwin is one of just three seniors on the squad this season and has been a constant source of leadership during his tenure with the Knights. He's fifth on the team in scoring this season and has appeared in all 16 games.

Southern Virginia will play its first round matchup of the USA South Tournament on Saturday, April 26th, at 3:00 PM. They'll host fifth seeded Greensboro College at Knight Stadium.
