LA CROSSE, Wis. - At the conclusion of the NCAA Division lll Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Southern Virginia University's two representatives each garnered All-American status for the second time this year.
Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong opened the long weekend by competing in the prelims of the 1,500m. While she didn't advance to the final, she managed 18th place in a highly competitive field.
On the final day of competition, Bayleigh endured her second event of the weekend, mustering 15th place in the 5K to cement herself as a USTFCCCA 2nd Team All-American. It's her best overall finish at a national championship, one spot better than her 16th place in the mile indoors.
Already competing in the third national championship meet of her young career, sophomore Marin Simons contested the high jump.
After clearing 1.59m with ease on her first attempt, Simons cleared two more heights, capping out at 1.67m (5' 5.75") to place 12th overall which also places her on the 2nd Team All-America. Marin has successfully captured an All-American spot in each national meet she's attended and the most of any Knight in program history.
