HARRISONBURG, Va. Powered by a 15-kill day from Brynn Hansen, the Southern Virginia Volleyball team came back to beat Eastern Mennonite 3-1, and take the season series. Hansen led the offensive output for the day, but was not alone as Ali Krebs was at the hub of the Knight offense and recorded 39 assists.

"This was a fantastic turn around match for us," said Head Coach Brian Pendleton. "Losing the way we did yesterday was a little heartbreaking, but the girl's stepped it up, and we got a good win against a quality opponent."

SVU looked to be dealing with the disappointment of the previous loss as they stumbled to a 17-25 loss of the first set. Down 0-1, the Knights regrouped quickly and were able to record a 25-21 second set win, and steadied the team after the rough start.

"I was concerned after that first set," said Pendleton. "Any coach would be, especially after our last match. Getting that second set was very important. I felt that it propelled us to the win."

SVU matched the second set score as they won the third with a 25-21 score, and looked to close out the game quickly. The nights jumped out early against the Lady Royals, and were able to win convincingly 25-17 to take the match as well as the season series 3-0.

SVU's season record is now 12-12. They return to action Oct. 16 when they square off in a tri-match in Harrisonburg against Christopher Newport and Bridgewater. SVU will play CNU first at 6:00 pm, and then play the hosts at 8:00 pm.
