Women's Tennis Ends Fall with Win at Ferrum

Written by Chris Pendleton

LYNCHBURG, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team closed out fall play on a high-note Wednesday with a 9-0 victory at Ferrum College.

Southern Virginia (2-1) swept all three doubles matches from Ferrum with Rebekah Reid/Ivy Kuroki taking the top-seeded doubles match 8-4 and Rachel Reid/Bethany Johnson winning 8-1 in the second-seeded match, while the Knights earned a forfeit in the third-seeded match.

The Knights top five singles players—Re. Reid (Woodland Hills, Utah), Ra. Reid (Woodland Hills, Utah), Johnson (Alpine, Utah), Kuroki (Hershey, Neb.) and Rebekah Ericson (Morgan, Utah)—each won their singles matches by a wide margin, while the sixth-slotted match again went to Southern Virginia by default.

After a 2-1 start this fall, women's tennis is off until spring play begins in mid-March, 2012.
