Men's Tennis Stays Undefeated at Randolph

LYNCHBURG, Va.—After a program record 5-0 start last fall, the Southern Virginia University men's tennis team opened spring competition with an 8-1 win at Randolph College remaining undefeated on the season.

Southern Virginia (6-0) swept doubles play from Randolph with Phillip Whiteley/Kenny Mize winning the closest of the three doubles matches 9-7 in the No. 3 slot.

The Knights then took five of six singles matches from the Wildcats dropping only the No. 6 match.

Shaolin Chandam (Chandigarh, India), who rejoined the Knights this spring after missing fall play, won his first match of the year 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while No. 2 Tyler Clark (Rocklin, Calif.) remained undefeated in singles competition this season with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Brothers Adam Blocher (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and Brian Blocher (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) prevailed in the No. 3 and No. 5 spots respectively, while senior Whiteley (Logan, Utah) earned his first singles win of the season in the fourth-seeded match.

Men's tennis plays again on Tuesday, Mar. 20 at Hood College.
